In trading, managing when you open and close positions can significantly impact your performance. TradersPost offers a unique feature called “Trading Window,” which allows traders to set specific hours for opening trades. However, there’s a common question about whether positions opened within this window can be closed outside of it.

Understanding the Trading Window

The Trading Window is a feature that enables traders to specify a timeframe during which they can open new positions. For example, you might set your Trading Window from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Eastern Time. This setting ensures that any new trades are initiated only during this period, helping traders focus on market hours that align with their strategies or the most active trading times.

Closing Positions Outside the Trading Window

A key concern is whether positions opened within the Trading Window can still be closed after the window has ended. Currently, TradersPost allows for this flexibility. If you open a position within the set hours and attach a stop loss or take profit order, these orders will execute even if the market moves after your Trading Window has closed. This functionality ensures that risk management orders placed with the broker are honored, providing continuous protection and profit-taking opportunities.

However, if you attempt to send a new signal to exit a position outside of the Trading Window, TradersPost will reject it. This limitation is under review, with discussions about adding a feature to allow exit signals outside the trading window. This change could involve a simple checkbox in the Trading Window settings, giving traders the option to permit exits at any time.

The Trading Window feature in TradersPost is a valuable tool for managing trade execution times, aligning with market activity, and enhancing trading strategies. While currently restricted to allowing position openings within a set timeframe, there is potential for future enhancements to permit exits outside the window. This flexibility can significantly benefit traders, offering more control and optimization of their trading activities.
